Buying online from Safe Haven Metal

Your shopping experience online with Safe Haven Metal is designed to be easy.  You do not need to worry about requirements to pay state and local sales tax on your purchase. The variables have been contemplated for you. First off, an order may be taxed on only part of it or on your total order, we have already calculated this for you. Secondly, the tax rate you pay may vary, again covered for you. Both of these factors depend on the address you request the products be shipped to for your order. The laws and tax rates are not consistent across the county or in some cases even within the same state. To help you understand why, an interactive guide helps you research your state’s sales tax rules and regulations. Safe Haven Metal believes your knowledge and preparation in advance of any taxes you may see during the your checkout process is important. Because the sales tax depends on your shipping address, not necessarily your home or billing address, articles explain the process to you. If you are storing or shipping your product to a state other than where you reside, make sure you check the sales tax rates for that location. This information is provided to assist with any questions you may have, but ultimately it is assistance only and please be aware rules can change. If you have any specific questions, you should consult your tax professional or the state in which you are shipping your product.

Why are the taxes different?

You have the Dakotas to thank for this. Back in 1992, the United States Supreme Court established how individual states would deal with retailers in the case of Quill Corp v. North Dakota (“Quill”). Quill Corp argued it should not have to collect taxes because it had no physical presence within North Dakota. The Supreme Court agreed.

Then on June 21, 2018, the Supreme Court agreed South Dakota arguing that it was losing tax revenue because of the changing markets that were no longer brick-and-mortar store based due to more consumers shopping online. Therefore reversing the earlier decision from North Dakota. The Dakotas showed resilience and persistence pays off.

This forced all online retailers to adapt to the varying state sales tax rules and regulations across the United States. Safe Haven Metal took away your worries about if you owe taxes or not. Taxes are ultimately charged to the consumer, but it’s the businesses that have to collect it for the state. To make sure that a state enforcing its tax laws does not catch you off guard, you can enjoy the Safe Haven Metal tax intelligent shopping experience worry free. To help those that love to learn as much as we do, our state-by-state tax articles will help clear up any potential confusion by providing the applicable tax rules for the different states. Please remember if you have specific questions, you should contact a tax professional in the area you are shipping to.

Is my IRA taxable?

Sales tax does NOT apply inside of an IRA account. However, taxes may apply when withdrawing from your IRA account. Please speak to a licensed tax professional.
